BSc (Hons) Facilities and Building Services Management.
MSc (Res) BIM in Fire Safety.
Initially working at undergraduate level, Conor Jordan collaborated with his classmates on ideas to enhance fire safety in high risk properties. Central to these concepts was the use of BIM (Building Information Modelling) to improve a high risk buildings level of fire safety, as well as an Incident Commander’s situational awareness of such buildings during a firefighting scenario.
Conor then operated within IT Carlow’s Faculty of Engineering research group engCORE, where he worked closely with Carlow Fire and Rescue Service in live firefighting scenarios at Hacketstown training centre, Carlow. With the joint scholarship support of the Irish Research Council and Carlow County Council, Conor developed an idea for a piece of software that has the potential to improve a buildings level of fire safety by providing “a golden thread” of information throughout its entire lifecycle. Through this, Conor graduated as Master of Science in 2020.
Previous to this, Conor worked in the health and safety sector in wind farm construction and lectured in Institute of Technology Carlow for a period of time. Furthermore, he achieved Institute of Technology Carlow’s 2013/14 Academic Scholarship, the 2017 Built Environment Level 8 Student of the Year Award, as well as a First-Class Honours in his Bachelor (Honours) Degree in Construction in Facilities and Building Services Management. Through these achievements and experiences both in the fire prevention and operational areas of the fire safety industry Conor’s interests were clear and his ability to pursue a career in such a field was warranted. Conor has been working in the fire safety industry as a fire safety engineer since 2019.
Conor is a member of Engineers of Ireland (EI)
